CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIPS

Having difficulty finding funds to attend the TxDLA Annual Conference? We may have the solution! With the economic crisis emerging, many schools and organizations are unable to pay for their employees or students to attend conferences. TxDLA has responded to this need by offering scholarships for individuals to participate in the annual conference (April 20-23, San Antonio.) There are several types of scholarships available through TxDLA. The areas that will be emphasized in the review of the applications include:

  • Leadership Interest: Are you a current leader or interested in being a future TxDLA leader?
  • Student Status: Are you a student in the field of distance learning or a related major?
  • Financial/Need Based: Is your budget restricting travel funds?
  • Presenting: Are you a presenter for the conference?
  • Constituency: Are you employed by an underrepresented group (corporate, military, health care, etc.?)
  • Membership Status: Are you a new member to TxDLA?

All of these scholarships are based on need, but for each type of award, the above areas will be used for selection. Please note that the scholarship covers the conference registration fee, but does NOT cover travel or hotel expenses.

The deadline for submitting your application is February 28th. The committee will have the results of the scholarship awards by March 4th.

Go to http://www.txdla.org/scholarships.aspx to submit your application!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES,
CONFERENCE PHOTOGRAPHER

Do you or someone you know love taking photos? If you or someone you know is proficient with digital photography, please consider volunteering as our conference photographer. This is a completely volunteer position, and we would ask that you provide your own camera and equipment for uploading digital photos to the website and/or a slideshow for display (provided) during the conference.

Look for another email later this week for opportunities to sign up to volunteer at the conference. This is a fun way to network and meet others in your field.
